PrisonEd Foundation

- Providing education opportunities to Utah's incarcerated

We invite you to help provide education to prisonsers.  For a $15 contribution, we can provide one book and a tutor for a prisoner.  And one book can make a difference! When Mohandas K. Gandhi was in jail, he read John Ruskin’s Unto This Last. His reaction was: “I determined to change my life in accordance with the ideals of the book.” That is what we are about – changing lives.

The Cost of providing a PrisonEd book and tutor to a prisoner.

No person involved with PrisonEd receives money – all time is donated. Prisoners receive scholarships and pay nothing. Zero money is received from the State.  The program functions on contributions.

Books and shipping are our primary expense.  The plan we are working out is to purchase used books online and have them shipped directly to inmates. For a course, costs are approximately as follows:

  • $8.00 Used book online
  • $4.00 Shipping from supplier
  • $3.00 Stamps and supplies conducting the course.
  • $15.00 Provides a course to one prisoner

Of course, that means $30 two prisoners, $60 four, and $120 eight prisoners.
You may designate any amount desired.

PrisonEd is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible.
